Aberdeen Gang Show is a "Recognised Gang Show" - which means it has been awarded the Red Necker.
The Red Necker, a prestigious award bestowed on us by the London Gang Show Fellowship,
symbolises the highest standards of excellence.
No Gang Shows are automatically "Red Necker" shows.
Each production team has to demonstrate that its show is good enough to earn official recognition when inspected by one of the Movement's Assessors.
It ensures that each Gang Show strives, as Ralph Reader did, to carry on the very best traditions of Gang Show and the theatrical arts.
Aberdeen first earned its "Red Scarf" with the 1960 show, and has been assessed regularly ever since.
Each time we have been successful in keeping our Red Necker status, of which we are very proud.
At a dinner held in London to celebrate the 50th year of founding of The London Gang Show Ralph Reader made a speech with the following message: "To all of you who wear the red scarf, or who have ever worn a red scarf, may all your days, your weeks, your hours, be spent riding along on the crest of a wave…"
